One hundred and fifty members of the Norhtheast District gathered at Quakertown UMC on Saturday, January 24th for the Tools for Ministry training event. Fifteen different workshops helped equip the lay leaders of our local churches in areas of ministry ranging from Children's and Youth Ministry to Finance and Trustees. The day began with worship in the sanctuary, with music provided by Believers 'N Friends, from Neola UMC. Tom Gibson, district lay leader, greeted the participants and introduced Bishop Peggy Johnson who was with us for the morning. After greetings by David Ryan, host church pastor, D.S. Bron Yocum led devotions on a reading from Romans 16, emphasizing that ordinary men and women were vital to the spread of the gospel in the early church, and ordinary women and men are vital to the spread of the gospel today.
